Once officially known as the ‘dirtiest’ hospital in the country, it was closed in 2006 without anyone really knowing.A number of individual buildings make up this mental hospital that treated most of Bristol & Somerset’s mentally ill. Originally built in 1937 it was used naval hospital over the war before being reverted to its original planned function.
