Previously known as Mid Wales Asylum or Mid Wales Counties of Breconshire and Radnorshire Asylum to be fully precise. I visited this site just over a year previously. It’s still a bit of a mystery to who actually owns the site and what really the future holds for the site. Lots have changed since my previous visit and not for the good either. Nearly all the buildings have been stripped of their lucrative slate tiling, most of the corridoors have been demolished and the whole place is decaying quite rapidly. In another years time it’ll probably be falling down.

I would recommend talking to my friend, Mark, who runs this site: http://midwalescountylunaticasylum.fotopic.net/ – he knows a lot more history of the site than me. The burial site is a potential midfield.. it could be that it was on the grounds of the asylum but nobody really knows. There is at least one grave behind the chapel which is for a member of staff who fought in one of the world wars. By this bit is a vast bit of overgrown land that if I were a betting man would reckon there may be further burials within.

Mr great-grandmother died in that asylum. Where can I look up her patient records and her burial site?
